This is an extended agreement between the Tŝilhqot’in Nation, Canada, and British Columbia to a shared goal of bringing transformative
change to the lives of the Tŝilhqot’in peoples and to the relationship between the Tŝilhqot’in Nation, Canada and British Columbia.

In 2019, the Tŝilhqot’in Nation, Canada, and British Columbia signed an agreement called the Gwets’en Nilt’i Pathway Agreement. It laid out their shared commitment to work together toward lasting reconciliation and a better future for everyone involved.

The agreement focused on eight key areas, called “pillars of reconciliation,” with clear goals and principles to guide their work. Over time, the partnership has made steady progress in improving governance for the Tŝilhqot’in Nation, building strong relationships between the parties, and enhancing the well-being of Tŝilhqot’in Citizens.

The original agreement expired in March 2024, but the parties agreed to continue working together as if it hadn’t expired. They extended the agreement for another five years, including funding, to keep moving toward their shared goals.
