This website is home to the Imappivut initiative. Imappivut (meaning “Our Oceans” in English) is the initiative to develop and implement a Nunatsiavut Marine Plan to manage and protect Labrador Inuit interests within the coastal and marine areas falling under the extent of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement (LILCA). Imappivut aims to gather Traditional Knowledge by working with communities to identify the ecological, cultural, economic and social interests of Labrador Inuit to inform the development of the marine plan while working with the Government of Canada towards contributing to achieving Canada’s international marine conservation targets.
