During the summer of 2017, the Indigenous Circle of Experts for the Pathway to Canada Target 1 (ICE) hosted four Regional Gatherings across Canada. These gatherings brought together First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and federal and provincial government representatives, enabling ICE to gather input from Elders, regional and community Indigenous government representatives, and a range of protected area and land use planning practitioners. The Regional Gatherings were instrumental in shaping the 28 recommendations contained in ICE’s final report. This video outlines ICE’s vision and introduces the process, while providing a summary of the Western Regional Gathering, which was held in Tla-o-qui-aht Nation territory, BC.
