Members of UAPASHKUSS identify themselves as Guardians of Sacred Sites.Sacred sites are spiritual places for us. They include lakes, mountains, portage routes, places of pilgrimage, sites linked to events or gatherings. The sacred sites we have identified are important since they were used by our nomadic ancestors. These places are fundamental to safeguarding our cultural heritage and are closely linked to the Innu identity. Identifying these sacred Innu sites allows both to make them known but also to raise the awareness of the people or bodies concerned, thus ensuring their protection.

Les sites sacrés sont pour nous des lieux spirituels. Ils incluent des lacs, des montagnes, des chemins de portages, des lieux de pèlerinages, des sites liés à des évènements ou des rassemblements. Les sites sacrés que nous avons identifiés sont importants puisqu’ils étaient utilisés par nos ancêtres nomades. Ces lieux sont fondamentaux pour la sauvegarde de notre patrimoine culturel et sont étroitement liés à l’identité innue. Identifier ces sites sacrés innus permet à la fois de les faire connaître mais aussi de sensibiliser les personnes ou instances intéressées, assurant ainsi leur protection.
