This report highlights how blue conservation economies in Nunavut are creating new opportunities for Inuit-led economic development that align with traditional values and environmental stewardship. As Canada moves toward its “30 by 30” conservation goals, investments in marine protected areas—like Tallurutiup Imanga NMCA—demonstrate how conservation can drive sustainable growth, support livelihoods, and strengthen community resilience. Drawing on case studies and data from across Inuit Nunangat, the report presents a roadmap for expanding these models while addressing the cultural and economic harms of past industrial development.
