In this video, you’ll meet Gary Sydney Johnson, a composer, storyteller, and language teacher from the Carcross/Tagish First Nation. His family’s connection to the Chilkoot Trail spans generations, and in this journey, Gary revisits the trail to reconnect with the land that has inspired his people for thousands of years. During his expedition, he composed a beautiful song called “Łkóot Gaawú” (Chilkoot Time) in the Tlingit language. This song and accompanying video pay tribute to the dedicated stewards of this land and capture the essence of traveling through this treasured place.
