This management plan, which is the successive version of The Beaufort Sea Beluga Management Plan, sets direction for the Tarium Niryutait Marine Protected Areas. The Plan was created by a partnership between Inuvialuit whale hunters, biologists, fisheries officers, and managers of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO). It supports the sustainable traditional harvest of beluga whales by Inuvialuit to ensure the viability of a healthy population of whales while conserving and protecting the biological resources of the MPA. The Management Plan operates under the framework of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement (IFA).
