This guide was first made in 2011 to help Coastal Guardians protect their territories along the North Pacific Coast. It explains Crown laws and rules they follow while watching over the land and waters. In 2023, the guide was updated with help from law students and stewardship staff from Coastal First Nations member Nations. The new version includes changes to federal and provincial laws and updates on the Great Bear Rainforest Agreements.
