This academic article outlines guidance for conducting ecological research ‘in a good way’ with Indigenous Peoples and knowledge systems. There is increasing interest from natural sciences researchers to collaborate with Indigenous partners. While this reflects a shift in attitudes towards Indigenous knowledge systems and rights, this trend poses significant risks and challenges to the safety and well-being of Indigenous Peoples. Through an examination of historical injustices and a call for humility, the authors advocate for a future where science upholds Indigenous rights and fosters inclusive relationships
