This video introduces the Great Bear Sea Marine Protected Area (MPA) network, a groundbreaking initiative in Indigenous co-governance, is being led by 15 First Nations in collaboration with the government of Canada and the province of British Columbia.
MPAs aim to safeguard marine biodiversity, including ecologically significant and threatened species and habitats, while also honouring First Nations’ cultural values and traditional harvesting practices.
This project was produced by Green Fire Productions in partnership with Coastal First Nations.
