This is the official declaration of the Hada and Kakweikan Indigenous Protected and Conserved Area (IPCA). The declaration, made on November 16, 2023, invokes the Ḵwiḵwa̱sut’inux̱w Ha̱xwa’mis First Nation’s inherent rights and title, jurisdiction and decision-making authority to protect more than 41,000 hectares of its land and waters.
