The Łutsël K’é Dene First Nation created a trust fund to support the management and operations of Thaidene Nëné while also promoting community stewardship and economic diversification. In partnership with Nature United, they raised $15 million, which was matched by the federal government for a total of $30 million. This trust is protected, with only the annual interest and investment income used for management, training, capacity building, cultural revitalization, and business development. If the trust’s income falls short of covering baseline management costs, Parks Canada will provide additional funding.
