This article discusses the small Arctic community of Taloyoak and its’ nomination for a $500,000 Arctic Inspiration Prize nomination for a food sovereignty project. The Aviqtuuq IPCA is an initiative led by the Nunavut hamlet of Taloyoak, the northernmost community on Canada’s mainland, located in Aviqtuuq, also known as the Boothia Peninsula, and is proposed to cover 40,730 km2 of ocean, 4,413 km2 of freshwater, 20,532 km of rivers and 45,039 km2 of land. For the development of the Aviqtuuq IPCA, Taloyoak’s Spence Bay Hunters and Trappers Association received $500,000 from the Canada Nature Fund Challenge.
