This beautifully illustrated picture book introduces the idea of Etuaptmumk (eh-doo-ahp-duh-mumk), a Mi’kmaw word that means “Two-Eyed Seeing” or understanding the world through both Indigenous and non-Indigenous ways of knowing. As a group of children learn from the Land, they watch for the return of the Robin, listen to the Frog’s croak, and receive the Maple Tree’s sap.

Inspired by the Mi’kmaq teaching of Netukulimk—caring for the Earth for past, present, and future generations—Walking Together celebrates the joy of spring and teaches readers how to build respectful and caring relationships with the Land, Waters, plants, animals, and all living beings.
