This press release from Kwikwasut’inuxw Haxwa’mis First Nation (KHFN) announces the declaration of the Hada & Kakweikan Indigenous Protected and Conserved Area (IPCA). This IPCA is located in the Broughton Archipelago in British Columbia, Hada (Bond Sound), and Kakweikan (Thompson Sound) and covers more than 40,000 hectares adjacent to the Gwaxdlala/Nalaxdlala IPCA declared by the Mamalilikulla First Nation in 2021. This declaration aims to restore biodiversity, protect culturally important species, and ensure long-term food security and cultural revitalization through the inherent jurisdiction of KHFN over their unceded traditional lands.
