Personal Accountability Pledge
The Indigenous Knowledge Circle (IKC) of the National Boreal Caribou Knowledge Consortium (NBCKC) created this pledge as a tool to help non-Indigenous individuals commit to meaningful and respectful relationships with Indigenous partners in conservation and stewardship work. It is a call to action that accompanies the Beyond Conservation Toolkit.
While the principles in this pledge are broad and can apply anywhere, we invite you to consider the specific place-based relationships that Indigenous Peoples hold in the territory you are located in or will be working, and make the pledge with those connections in mind.
Include your name and email address below to receive a PDF copy of the pledge that you can print and sign. In addition, each year on National Truth and Reconciliation Day (September 30), you’ll receive a set of annual accountability questions to help reflect on your pledge and how you’ve upheld your commitments (see the “Considerations” under each commitment). Your name and email will only be used by the IPCA Knowledge Basket for this purpose and will not be shared or used elsewhere. Check the box beside each commitment and then click the “Submit My Pledge” button at the bottom of the page.
