The Cree Regional Conservation Strategy provides a framework for developing conservation and protected areas initiatives in Cree territory (Eeyou Istchee).
This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by Québec Premier, Grand Chief of the Grand Council of the Crees (Eeyou Istchee), and Chairman of the Cree Nation Government, Dr. Abel Bosum. The MOU represents a mutual agreement to collaborate and form a long-term, balanced partnership to protect the Eeyou Istchee James Bay Region.
This resource is intended for Indigenous Nations and governments who are interested or currently engaged in the creation of an Indigenous Protected and Conserved Area (IPCA) or other Indigenous-led conservation initiatives. It provides a snapshot of how IPCAs are being governed across what is now known as Canada.
